All day eating
I like birthdays a lot. Mine in particular. So I decided to eat my way through the day.
I started with lunch at the Hawkesbury Harvest Markets, with a chorizo roll from Eumundi Smokehouse, I also stopped by to see ChocolateSuze and grab some biscotti! Yum! As a little gift she also gave me a little gingerbread man, who remains uneaten!
I then wanted to try some goodies from Gumnut chocolate after perusing their selection on many occasions. So I grabbed a Florentine and a lemon and poppy seed macaroon. Oh my god, yum! They were both absolutely delicious…particularly the macaroon…
When I got back to the office, a colleague stopped by my desk with a black forest cupcake from Babycakes by Renee…more yummy goodness!
As if this wasn’t enough, post work drinks beckoned. We left work early and headed down to the Opera Bar to snaffle a possie. If only the weather had been warmer, I’m sure we could’ve stayed here the rest of the night, but we lasted long enough for one bottle of champagne Australian Sparkling Wine and a bowl of tasty sweet potato chips…
Once the rest of the crew arrived we decamped to the warmer confines of the new Guylian Cafe.
Our intention at this point wasn’t really to eat, but rather to drink more champagne Australian Sparkling Wine! The Guylian cafe only has two options in this regard; a $40 Wylie’s Creek, and a $120 bottle! We of course go the cheaper option. So we decide that while there we should also taste some of the treats on offer.
I choose the 100% Pure Pleasure, just because of it’s name!
It’s meant to have coffee in it, but I get no coffee flavour at all…but it is a lovely mousse type texture, with an odd firm custard flavoured half egg type shape embedded in it!

The torte, from my small taste was somewhat dry and dense, but still tasty…I must say, the service was outstanding, particularly the staff member who formerly worked at the Lindt cafe at Suncorp Plaza! Towards the end of the evening I was presented with a birthday chocolate & raspberry friand!
It was delightful, as was the accompanying singing from my 3 girlfriends!
All in all, a great birthday!
